The death is announced of a gentleman well known in this district through his intimate connexion with the South Yorkshire mining interest.
Mr. James Cope, one of the oldest mining engineers in Staffordshire, was found on Tuesday morning dead in bed, at his residence, Tettenhall-road, Wolverhampton. Deceased, who was 70 years of age, retired to bed in his usual health.
He was a Fellow of the Geological Society, and was a prominent member of the South Midland Institute of Mining Engineers.
