JAMES DILLON, born in 1833, died at Glenageary, Co. Dublin, on the 12th May, 1916.
After gaining experience of contracting work, he engaged in consulting practice in 1859. In this capacity he carried out the Dublin and Meath Railway, the Fermoy and Mitchelstown and other branch and light railways, and arterial drainage works at Stoneyford, Kildare, Baltracey, Rathorgan and Upper Invy. He was a Government arbitrator under the Public Works Commissioners and Local Government Board of Ireland, and a member of the Viceregal Commission on Arterial Drainage.
He was the author of various papers, and served as President of the Irish Institution of Civil Engineers.
He was elected a Member on the 6th April, 1880.
