JAMES KERR, chairman of the Etna Iron and Steel Co., died at the age of eighty-three. He was connected with the early developments of the iron trade in Coatbridge.
He went to the Motherwell district in 1889, where, along with the late Mr. J. Wotherspoon, he purchased the Brandon Iron and Steel Works, Craigneuk, which he renamed.
In 1913 he formed the present company.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1894.
