of Smith and Mills (USA)

Born in Oldham, Lancs. Emigrated to the USA in 1861, settling first in New York, then moving to Cincinnati in 1868. He joined the John Steptoe Machine Tool Co, and was soon appointed as Superintendent. In 1888 he joined in parnership with Albert S. Smith to establish Smith and Mills, machine tool makers, where Mills remained as President until his death in 1913 at the age of 74.[1]
