1881-2 Resident engineer on street construction in Glasgow
1882 Became engineer and manager to Dick, Kerr and Co, 101 Leadenhail St., involved in construction of various tramways.
1886 Employed at Dick, Kerr and Co., 101 Leadenhail St, London, when he was elected Associate Member of Inst of Civil Engineers
