1831 Born in East Harptree, Somerset, son of William Ashmead Tate (who by 1851 was retired Captain in the service of the East India Co, professor of Military Drawing at Addiscombe[1])

1855 Married Julia Miller in Ireland.[2]

c.1860 Lived in Bombay[3]

1871 James Samuel Tate 39, civil engineer, lived in Battersea with Julia Matilda Tate 37, William Frederick Tate 12, Amy Florence Tate 9[4]

1874 Julia died[5]
