Carpet Manufacturer of Glasgow

James Templeton (1802-1883) was in business in Paisley as a manufacturer of Paisley shawls

1839 He started a carpet manufacturing enterprise in Bridgeton which later became J. Templeton and Co.

He invented the first machine-made Axminster carpets

Presumably also connected with J. and J. S. Templeton

His descendants ran the company, even after it became a public limited company in 1947.
