1861 Captain RN, visiting his in-laws with his wife Eliza[2]

1869 Read a paper at the Institution of Naval Architects "On the Progress made in the Use of Liquid Fuel for Heating Steam-boilers", describing experiments he had conducted in a small steam launch undertaken by the Admiralty at the request of Mr. Reed.[3]

1875 Admiral

1881 Vice-Admiral retired, living in Paddington with his wife[5]

1901 Retired admiral; died at Gloucester Terrace, Hyde Park[6]
