. . . . Returning to Glasgow, he began business in partnership with Ma r. Brown, but the partnership lasted only a few years. Soon afterwards Mr. Carrick entered the service of the Glasgow Corporation, succeeding the late Mr. Hume in the office then known as superintendent of streets.
