JOHN COOMBE SEARLE, born in Westminster in 1848, died at Ealing on the 5th December, 1915.
His early experience was of a varied character, comprising railway construction, docks and water-supply engineering. He was for 6 years an assistant to the late Sir William Shelford, M. Inst. C.E., and served upwards of 25 years on the staff of Messrs. John Aird and Company, contractors, Westminster, during which time he was associated with many important undertakings.
Recently he took out quantities for a large reservoir at Littleton, near Staines, for the Metropolitan Water Board.
He was elected an Associate Member on the 3rd March, 1874.
