John Hare (1813-1897) was the co-owner of the white lead and colour manufacturers, oil merchants and flax spinners John Hare and Co, Charles Hare and Co and Hare Brothers.[1] He was also a magistrate, alderman and member of the Society of Merchant Venturers. In 1861 he became Mayor of Bristol.[2]
1813 Born in Bristol, son of Charles Hare and Bridget Bowles.
1837 Married Jane Strachey in Naples.
1847 Birth of son John Strachey Hare.
1850 Birth of son Charles Edward Hare.
1851 Birth of son Sholto Henry Hare.
1897 Died on the 25 September at 7 Litfield Place, Clifton, Bristol.
