John Hare (1813-1897) was the co-owner of the white lead and colour manufacturers, oil merchants and flax spinners John Hare and Co, Charles Hare and Co and Hare Brothers. He was also a magistrate, alderman and member of the Society of Merchant Venturers. In 1861 he became Mayor of Bristol.
