JOHN HINCHLIFFE, of Bullhouse Hall, near Penistone, died in February 1903, at the age of seventy-three years. He was a member of the firm of John Hinchliffe & Sons, owners of the Bullhouse Colliery.
He took an active part in local government, and was a member of the Penistone Burial Board, a governor of the Penistone Grammar School, a Justice of the Peace, and chairman of the Holmfirth Division Liberal Association.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1885.
