1790/5 John Locke started in business as a lead merchant in London[1] = see John Locke and Co

1797 Established a lead works in Newcastle: Locke, Blackett and Co

1802 John Locke, merchant, of the Minories, London[2]

c.1818 William James Lancaster (1802-66) joined Locke's business

1827 The Copartnership carried on as Lead-Merchants, under the firm of John Locke and Co. was dissolved, signed John Locke, George Shepherd (Executor of Charles Locke), George Shepherd[3]

1854 the name of the firm was changed to Locke, Lancaster and Co
