JOHN MACDONALD was educated and trained at Glasgow, serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. J. Yuill.
He then went to the Canal Basin Foundry where he remained for twelve years.
He subsequently practised as a consulting engineer for a short time, but soon commenced the manufacture of water-turbines at an engineering works which he opened at Pollokshaws. He carried out many important hydraulic installations in this country and on the Continent, and in later years extended his interests by undertaking the manufacture of pneumatic tools.
His death occurred on 6th November 1926 at the age of 80.
He became a Member of the Institution in 1899.
