Col. John Michael Dickson, T.D., B.Sc., who died on 30th November 1957 in his sixtieth year, served as Chairman of the East Midlands Branch in 1946 and 1947.
He received his education at John Lyon School, Harrow, and was apprenticed to W. Watson and Sons, High Holborn, from 1904 to 1907. He attended Birkbeck College, University of London, from 1907 to 1911 and from 1912 to 1914 he was Technical Assistant to Alexander Wright and Co., Westminster.
He served with H.M. Forces in the 1914-18 war. In 1919 he was appointed Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at University College, Nottingham, becoming Senior Lecturer in 1925. During the 1939-45 war Col. Dickson served with R.E.M.E., returning to University College, Nottingham, in 1946.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1919 and transferred to Member in 1935.
