JOHN PARRY died on December 2, 1914, at his residence at Forest Hill, London, at an advanced age. In his earlier years he was employed as a chemist under his father, the late Charles Parry[2], a metallurgical engineer of note and a prolific inventor. Young Parry was associated, together with his father, in the experiments made in the early days of the basic process by Thomas and Gilchrist. He read many papers before the Institute, and was a frequent attendant at meetings. He was an original member of the Institute.
