1813 Birth of his son William Wilkinson Platt in Eccles[1]/Manchester[2]/Salford[3]. John was a weaver[4].
1836 First mention of John Platt in the Directories, when he was described as a "machine maker", living in Roman Road Terrace, Higher Broughton. His workshop was in Greengate.
1839 John Platt leased the Salford Iron Works from Sherratt's trustees.
Platt entered into partnership with George Yates, the two of them continuing Sherratt's line of business.
1841 John Platt 60, a "machine maker", lived in Roman Road Terrace, Higher Broughton, with Emma Platt 55, William Platt 25[5].
1845 The Mathers leased part of Salford Iron Works from John Platt
1847 John Platt died
