For some years Salkeld was connected with the firm of Miller and Ravenhill before he was taken into the partnership.
At some point the firm became Miller, Ravenhill, and Salkeld.
1851 Master engineer, employing 660 men, of the firm of Miller, Ravenhill, and Salkeld of Ratcliff and Blackwall, lived in Ratcliff[2]

1865 John Salkeld was a partner in Ravenhill, Salkeld and Co but not in the successor partnership of Ravenhill, Hodgson and Co
