c1815 Born at Alston, Cumberland

1840 John Salkeld of Glasshouses Iron Works, Ratcliff, became a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.[1]

For some years Salkeld was connected with the firm of Miller and Ravenhill before he was taken into the partnership.

At some point the firm became Miller, Ravenhill, and Salkeld.

1851 Master engineer, employing 660 men, of the firm of Miller, Ravenhill, and Salkeld of Ratcliff and Blackwall, lived in Ratcliff[2]

and presume this is the same person:

1857 Birth of son Lewis Carruthers Salkeld to John and Catharine Salkeld, baptised in St Marylebone[3]

1861 John Salkeld 44 (born Alston, Cumberland), civil engineer, lived in Ventnor, Isle of Wight with Catherine Salkeld 29 and Louis C Salkeld 3[4]

1865 John Salkeld was a partner in Ravenhill, Salkeld and Co but not in the successor partnership of Ravenhill, Hodgson and Co

1867 (last entry) Place of employment: Glass House Fields, Ratcliffe[5]
