Successor to James Vickers?
1826 Advert: 'IMPERIAL MEASURES. JOHN VICKERS, BRITANNIA METAL MANUFACTURER, BDITANNIA, SHEFFIELD, RESPECTFULLY informs the Public, that they may be supplied with the New Imperial MEASURES, according to Act of Parliament, in complete Sets.'[1]
1835 Advert: 'JOHN VICKERS BEGS inform his Friends and the Public, that he has THIS DAY, DISPOSED OF HIS BRITANNIA METAL BUSINESS to his Nephew, Mr. THOMAS MILNER, and takes this opportunity of returning his sincere thanks to the numerous Friends, who have many years favoured him with their commands ; and also solicit for his Successor a continuance of the same.
THOMAS MILNER, as Successor to Mr. John Vickers, begs to inform the Public, that his best endeavours shall be employed to merit a continuance of those favours which his Predecessor has so liberally enjoyed for the last Fifty Years. Being determined to keep the superiority of quality in Metal, and excellence in Workmanship, for which the Article has so long been distinguished, he looks with confidence to a discerning Public for success in his endeavours.

T. N. BARDWELL & SONS Are directed by the Executors of the late Mr. John Vickers, TO SELL BY AUCTION, Without Reserve, on Wednesday next, the 21st Day of September, 1842, upon the Premises in Garden street, in Sheffield ;
THE Valuable DIES, MOULDS, and WORKING TOOLS, comprising Steel and Metal Dies and Brass Moulds, two Stamps, complete; large and very powerful Fly, smaller Fly, pair 10-inch Rollers, two pair Bracket Rollers, Beams, Scales and Weights, Drug, Shears, Files, Stone Troughs, and sundry other Working Tools and Effects, particulars of which will be given in Catalogues.
The Sale will commence at Ten o'clock in the Morning punctually.'[4]
