John Walter Tanfield (c1866-1936) of Beverley

1891 Married at Beverley to Eliza Burras

1899 Showed a motor bicycle at the 1899 Hull Cycle Exhibition. 'Mr J. W. Tanfield, of Beverley, shows a motor bicycle, a motor voiturette, and a motor Victoria and dog cart, which are well worth seeing. The motor bicycle can be seen continually working. Mr Tanfield also exhibits his well-known Vincit Veritas.'[1]

1900. 'John Walter Tanfield. cycle and motor engineer, North Bar-street, Beverley, appeared the Hull Bankruptcy-court this afternoon.'[2]

1901 Listed in Beverley, (age 35 born Beverley), Mechanical Engineer and Motor Car Expert. With his wife and son.[3]

1911 Living at 83 Cornwall Road, Bayswater, London: John Walter Tanfield (age 45 born Beverley), Mechanical Engineer (Petrol Motors) - Own account. With his wife Eliza Tanfield (age 41 born Beverley) and their son Arthur James Burras Tanfield (age 18 born Beverley), Engineering Student.[4]
