1899 Showed a motor bicycle at the 1899 Hull Cycle Exhibition. 'Mr J. W. Tanfield, of Beverley, shows a motor bicycle, a motor voiturette, and a motor Victoria and dog cart, which are well worth seeing. The motor bicycle can be seen continually working. Mr Tanfield also exhibits his well-known Vincit Veritas.'[1]
1900. 'John Walter Tanfield. cycle and motor engineer, North Bar-street, Beverley, appeared the Hull Bankruptcy-court this afternoon.'[2]
