John Wilson (1772-1831) from Dalston, Cumbria
One of the two John Wilsons, masons, who worked for Thomas Telford - the other being John Wilson (1770-1850)
Assisted John Simpson with the masonry contract on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
1804 John Wilson was agent for Simpson on masonry on the Caledonian Canal and supervisor for the masonry on the west end.
Later worked with Simpson on roads in the Highlands
1820 Took over the contract for the masonry of the Menai Bridge when the previous contractors gave it up and completed the work
1826 Appointed contractor of Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal on recommendation of Telford.
1831 Died whilst working at Market Drayton on the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal
