1899 Took up position in Ayr
1901 John Young 38, civil engineer, lived in Edinburgh with Agnes E Young 34, Thomas E Young 5 Mths[2]
1910 Burgh surveyor, water and tramway engineer, Ayr Corporation when he became a Member of the Inst of Civil Engineers
