1785 Advertisement: 'MAIDSTONE, in KENT. JOSEPH BROWN, Nephew and Successor to Mr. WILLIAM BROWN, late of Maidstone, Iron Screw, Pump, and Engine Maker, presumes to inform his Friends and the Public, that (after twenty Years Practice with the said WILLIAM BROWN in the above Business) he now carries on the same in all its Branches, humbly elicits their Countenance and Support, ard assures them every Ordershall be properly executed, and the Favour gratefully acknowledged.
Sells all Sorts of Engines and Pumps, either in Brass, Copper, Lead, or Wood; together with Screws, both right and left handed for Paper-mills, and other Iron Work as cheap as in London. Pumps made to raise Water from Wells One Hundred Feet deep, to by one Person, and tbe Water carried in any Direion.
Also W. MOORE, Smith to the abovesaid W. BROWN makes all Sorts of Press Bars, Spindles, Roll Bars, Plates, Gudgeons, and Mill Brasses, with the greatest Care and Punctuality.'
