Born the son of Anthony Bunn Johnson

1851 Living at 42 Hockley, Birmingham: Anthony Johnson (age 42 born Sunderland), Engraver and printer employing 21 Work people. With his wife Ann Johnson (age 41 born Wolverhampton) and their six children; Elizabeth Johnson (age 13 born Birmingham); Mary Johnson (age 11 born Birmingham); Joseph Johnson (age 9 born Handsworth); Anna Johnson (age 7 born Handsworth); Alfred Johnson (age 5 born Handsworth); and Anthony Johnson (age 1 born Handsworth). One servant.[1]

1901 Living at 36 Wentworth Road, Harborne: Joseph Johnson (age 59 born Birmingham), Manufacturing Stationer - Employer. With his wife Lydia J. Johnson (age 58 born Birmingham) and their son Alfred J. Johnson (age 27 born Birmingham), Manufacturing Stationer - Employer. Also his mother-in-law Jane Thomas (age 80 born Birmingham) and his niece Alice Thomas (age 23 born Birmingham).[2]
