Lower Kensham Mills of Bradninch, near Cullompton, Devon

1893 'SALE OF MACHINERY AT LOWER KENSHAM MILLS. A large and important company, numbering about 250 paper manufacturers in the South and West of England also including buyers from Yorkshire, Manchester, Bristol &c., assembled at the Lower Kensham Mills, Bradninch, near Cullompton, Wednesday last, when Thompson, Rippon and Co, auctioneers, of Exeter, disposed of whole of the valuable paper-making machinery, plant, utensils and effects of Mr George Pocknell, of Exeter, the liquidator and the mortgagees of the estate of C. T. Cuming and Son, limited, in liquidation, was attended by most successful results. The following were some of the principal prices obtained:- Three rag boilers £33, £20 and respectively, nine rag beating engines £7 15s, £6 5s, £5, £5, &c; several iron tanks ranged from £5 5s to £3; 150 h.p steam engine by Galloway £120; 12 h.p grasshopper engine £9; 3hp. horizonontal engine £3; three Galloways steam boilers, £56, £10, £9 respectively ; 60-inoh paper making machine £170 ; weighing platform £17; Bertram's 60-na-paper cutting machine £20; gas plant £4 5s; cart horse "Tom", aged, £16; whilst several waggons, harness, &c, fetched good prices' [1]
