1969 Slater Walker acquired 44 percent of Kent Castings[1]

Slater then sold George Wilson Industries to Kent, raising Slater's interest to 64 percent.[2]

1969 Oxley Engineering Co acquired Butterley Engineering from Hanson Trust and ceased to be a subsidiary of Oxley Industries[3]

1970 Kent Castings, supported by Slater Walker, acquired Oxley Engineering Co. The company's most important subsidiary was said to be Oxley-Dempster, which was involved in making process plant[4]

1971 Kent Castings (Gillingham) Ltd changed its name to Butterley Engineering Industries Ltd[5]

1971 Crittall-Hope, another Slater Walker subsidiary, was injected into Butterley and the group's name was changed to Crittall-Hope Engineering[6]

1974 Norcros acquired Crittall-Hope including Butterley Engineering[7]
