Lewis Levy (c1848-1913), partner in George Cohen, Sons and Co

1848 Born in Whitechapel

1851 Living with his uncle George Cohen (1828-1890), iron dealer[1], who was son of Moss Cohen (1801-1847), iron dealer[2]

1891 Iron merchant and ship breaker living in Bromley by Bow[3]

LEWIS LEVY died on May 29, 1913, at the age of sixty-five. He was partner in the firm of George Cohen, Sons, & Co., of London.

He entered the business of his grandfather, Mr. George Cohen, when he was about fifteen years of age, and until his death he was actively associated with the firm.

About twelve years ago he formed the Ship-Breaking Company, Ltd., of which he was chairman; and he was also connected with the Westbourne Park Coal and Iron Company, Ltd., and the South Wales Metals Company, Ltd.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1902.
