The company was created in 1846 and bought two tramroads and the Dyffryn Llynfi and Porthcawl Railway

In 1855 they took over the Bridgend Railway

In 1866 the merged with the Ogmore Valley Railway to form the Llynfi and Ogmore Railway (L&OR)
