Longford Railway Bridge (Tasmania)
This is a wrought iron lattice girder bridge built in 1870 to carry the Launceston to Deloraine railway over the South Esk river. Its two 64m. spans were the same as those of the Barwon Iron Bridge at Geelong, a figure not exceeded in Australia until 1880 when the Fitzroy Suspension Bridge was built.
Designed by Doyne, Major and Willett. The ironwork was supplied by Charles De Bergue and Co of Manchester and Cardiff.
See Wikipedia entry
W. T. Boyne and Charles De Bergue & Co were also involved in the design and construction of the Kings Bridge, Launceston.
