1860 Born in La Habana, Cuba, the son of Colonel Luis Gilberga Wirtz

1888 Married at Islington to Lydia Susannah Brooks

1912 Patent. 'Notice is hereby given, that Horace Trevor Williams, Luis Wirtz and Fore Company Limited have made application for the restoration of the Patent grant to Horace Trevor Williams and Luis Wirtz for an invention entitled "Improvements in change speed and in change speed and reverse gears" numbered 22172 of 1912, and bearing date the 30th day of September, 1912, which expired on the 30th day of September, 1916, owing to the non-payment of the prescribed Renewal Fee.'[1]

1915 patent. 'No. 21.819, dated 2nd November, "Improvements in Means for protecting ships and other vessels from the action of Mines. Torpedoes and the like" Luis Wirtz, Birmingham. Means for protecting ships from the action of mines, torpedoes and the like, comprising a protecting net having endless motion, the net travelling out of the water in the direction in which the ship travels and in the water in a direction off side to the movement of the ship.'[2]

1922 Partnership dissolved. '...the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, Hakewill Tresyllian Williams, of Churchill Court, near Kidderminster, Esquire, and Doctor Luis Wirtz, of 19, Stanhope-road, Streatham, Surrey, Engineer, for the purposes of developing and exploiting the Patent Rights and inventions of the said Doctor LUIS WIRTZ, was dissolved by mutual consent ...'[3]
