1796 Advertisement: 'TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, (Unless disposed of by private Contract in the mean Time) At the Crown Inn, Northwich, in the County of Chester, on Saturday the 23d Day of April inst. at Six o'Clock in the Evening, subject to such Conditions as will be then produced, MARSTON IRON FORGE, an established Work, established as a Charcoal finery and Wheel, Bellows and Geering; a Chafery Wheel, Bellows and Geering, with two Heating fires, and a Reverberatory furnace, a most substantial Hammer Wheel, with a new Beam and Cast-iron Rings, and stout Harness; together with a Warehouse and Smith's Shop. Also a good double House, situate near the said forge, with Garden thereunto belonging, and four Cottages, for the Residence of the forge-men, and upwards of seven Acres good Land, of Cheshire Measure. Marston forge is supplied with a good Stream of Water from two very extensive Meres, over the larger of which, exclusive of the Forge-pool, it hath a considerable Poundage ; is capable of great Improvement. The Situation is most capital for commanding Business, being within one Mile of Northwich aforesaid, and the Salt Works, and not more than a Quarter of a Mile from the River Weaver, navigable to Liverpool, and the Staffordshire Canal, and in a good Neighbourhood for procuring Cordwood and Charcoal. The Premises are held by Lease under Sir John Fleming Leicester, Bart, for the Remainder of a Term of 99 Years, determinable on the Deaths of three Lives, the eldest of whom is only 29 Years Age; and for a further Term of 21 Years, to commence from the Death of the Survivor of such Lives. The Purchaser may have the Stock of Charcoal, Tools, &c. at fair Valuation, and immediate Possession of the Premises may be had. 1797 Advertisement: 'CHESHIRE. WHEREAS the partnership heretofore carried on between THOMAS RYDER and GEORGE NELSON, Marston Forge, under the firm of Ryder and Nelson, was this day dissolved by mutual consent; and all persons who stand indebted to the said partnership, are desired to pay their respective debts to the said George Nelson, who duly authorised to receive the same, and who will discharge all debts owing by the said concern. 1797. 'Marston Forge, Oct. 25, 1797. GEORGE NELSON, With respect, informs his friends and the public, he succeeds to the above business, And purposes having a constant and ready supply of - BAR IRON and MOLDS, SALT-PAN and ENGINE BOILERS PLATES, of the best quality; Also, SALT-PANS, STEAM ENGINE BOILERS, And WROUGHT IRON PANS and BOILERS, of any description, ready made. All kinds of smith's work done on the most reasonable terms. G. N. begs leave to offer his thanks to those friends who favored him with their orders in his late partnership, and hopes to merit a continuation of them, which will be his study to do. [2]
