1829 August 20th. Married in Bury to Sarah Hope

1841 Living in Market Street, Heywood: Matthew Mills (age c30), Iron Founder. With Sarah Mills (age c30), James Mills (age c12) and Sarah Ann Mills (age c8).[1]

1851 Living at Bamford Road, Heap, Birtle: Matthew Mills (age 43 born Ashworth, Lancs), Iron Founder. With his wife Sarah Mills (age 41 born Bury and their daughter Sarah Ann Mills (age 18 born Heap). [2].

1861 Living at The Promenade, Southport: Matthew Mills (age 55 born Heywood), iron founder.
