1919 Construction of the 5 storey, 7 acre, Tame Side clock factory near Dobcross and Saddleworth, Oldham, by Hirst Brothers and Co. The factory was of reinforced concrete construction, with wall-to-ceiling glazing. It was eventually served by a private halt for the workers, most of whom travelled from the Oldham area. The halt was, known as 'Measurements Halt', constructed by the LMSR in 1932.[1]
1926 Took over the Tameside Works of Hirst Brothers and Co at Dobcross.
1930 Sales of electricity meters had increased, reflecting the development of the National Electricity Scheme[2]. Had moved to larger premises. Also sold water meters.
