2003 Public company incorporated, shares listed on AIM. It was a cash shell with several directors who had previously worked for Wassall[1]. The company aimed to acquire good manufacturing businesses with strong fundamentals whose performance could be improved. Melrose financed its acquisitions using a low level of leverage, improved the businesses by a mixture of investment and changed management focus, and then sold them on and delivered the proceeds to shareholders.
