Merthyr, Abergavenny and Tredegar Railway

1859 The Merthyr, Abergavenny & Tredegar Railway company was formed to build a line from Abergavenny to Merthyr.

By 1861, construction had reached from Abergavenny to Brynmawr when the line was bought by the London and North Western Railway

Linked to the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway at Abergavenny.

1879 The line was extended into Merthyr.
