MICHAEL SPARTALI, B.Sc. (Glasgow), born in London in 1881, was killed in action at the Dardanelles on the 14th June, 1915.
He obtained his practical training on the London and North-Western and Great Northern Railways, and in 1906 he was appointed to the staff of the Burma Railways, subsequently acting as Section Engineer on the Siamese State Railways and as Resident Engineer on the Jodhpur-Bikanir Railway.
In 1914 he was appointed Chief Engineer of Surveys for the Nigerian Railways, which position he resigned on the outbreak of war and obtained a commission in the South Wales Borderers.
Mr. Spartali was elected an Associate Member on the 4th December, 1906.
