Military Engineering Experimental Establishment

1919 The Experimental Bridging Company, Royal Engineers was formed at Christchurch

1925 The unit was redesignated as Experimental Bridging Establishment

WWII The Experimental Demolition Establishment and the Experimental Tunnelling Establishment were formed at Christchurch

1946 The Military Engineering Experimental Establishment (MEXE) was formed by the amalgamation of the Experimental Bridging Establishment with the Experimental Demolition Establishment and the Experimental Tunnelling Establishment.

1959 MEXE was transferred from the Ministry of Supply to the War Office.

1970 MEXE was amalgamated with the Fighting Vehicles Research and Development Establishment to become the Military Vehicles and Engineering Establishment.
