1952 Business founded by Robert Myson, as general industrial and welding engineers making specialised factory equipment[1]

1955 Incorporated as Myson Engineering Company Ltd

Increasingly involved in making heating and heat-transfer plant

1960 Formation of Myson Heat Exchangers Ltd to enter the heating and ventilation market

1964 Adapted industrial heating equipment for the domestic market.

1969 Name changed to Myson Group Ltd and incorporated as a public company.

1969 Acquired Rugby Design and Engineering Services Ltd[2]

1970 Acquired Ace Castings and Ace Patterns of Rugby, which would complement another group company, Barrowside (Pressure Castings), providing production techniques and production capacity[3]

1970 Acquired the Reside group from Cope Allman and Co Ltd; Reside consisted of Ramsden Reside Engineering Ltd, Reside (Pressings) Ltd and Peckett and Sons; all located in Brighouse, Yorks Ltd[4]

1970 Acquired Hull Steel Radiators[5] funded by share issue[6]

1972 Acquired Harris Engineering from Crown House [7]

1972 Acquired Brooks Ventilation Units[8]

1973 Acquired Scanglo and Geoffrey Woods[9]

1974 Acquired Wright Electric Motors[10]

1974 Acquired Copperad[11]

1976 The group had been expanding by acquisition to form a group covering environmental control equipment[12]

1981 A group of financial institutions backed a buy-in to the company by Messrs Wheeler and Salkeld.[13]

1986 Myson bought the heating division of Thorn EMI

1989 After a reference to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, Blue Circle acquired Myson, despite the effect of reducing the number of British gas boilers makers from 5 to 4[14]
