Nylands mekaniske verksted (Nyland mechanical workshop) of Oslo (formerly Christiania), Norway
Engineers, shipbuilders, and makers of stationary and marine steam engines and locomotives.
Founded in 1854 or 1855 by Jacob Smith Jarmann , J G Jarmann and Prosper Nørbech.
In 1857, the works moved to the Akerselva River in Bjørvika, where it operated until 1971.
c.1900, Nyland was Norway's largest shipyard, with over 1,000 employees.
1956 Taken over by the Aker Group
1967 Nyland MV merged with Aker's MV and operated under the Nyland name.
2008 The Oslo Opera House was opened on the site.
