c.1933 contracted polio

1937 Recovered the use of his upper body. Travelled to Britain to resume his education

1938 His family left Berlin and acquired B. K. L. Alloys, an aluminium forging company, founded in 1936 by 3 refugees from Germany

c.1944 Attended Cambridge University[1]

He joined the family business

By 1966 he was managing director of B. K. L. Alloys

1971 Awarded CBE for his work on the West Midlands Conciliation Committee of the Race Relations Board

1972 Appointed chairman of GKN Screws and Fasteners and of GKN Bolts and Nuts[2]

1972 Appointed to the board of GKN (UK)[3]

1972 Left the board of GKN Farr Filtration[4]

1974 Appointed to the board of GKN[5]
