1927 Padley and Price, Ltd. specialists in manufactures from stainless steel, of Hill-street, Sheffield, transferred their business to Birmingham, where they took over a works covering two acres. The change was not due to any dissatisfaction with Sheffield, but to the fact that the firm was unable to obtain in the city either a site or unoccupied premises which suited its requirements for extended productive capacity and future expansion. The firm was a pioneer in applying stainless steel to the manufacture of scores of different articles.

Its removal did not affect the associated business of Padley and Venables, steel and tool manufacturers, which carried on as usual at Hill-street, Sheffield. [1]
