Company formed to manufacture compressed fuel under the patent of Mr Warlich from Hanover

Sydney Hall took shares in the company and later was appointed resident director at Swansea.

1871-3 Erected large new works at Sunderland, capable of turning out 200 tons/day of fuel.

Soon afterwards these works changed hands and continued under the name of the Wear Fuel-works.
