1955 The Leeway trade mark was registered in 1955 and it is these rocking horses which are often found now.
1966 News item 'Once more the horse is being overtaken by the car. This will be the last Christmas for Leeway's hand-carved rocking horses, which have been made for 75 years by Patterson Edwards in Lea Green. The reason is that the apprentice who took over from 65-year-old Mr George Brown in June left a few weeks ago, and there is no one to replace him. Mr Brown reckons that he carved 35,000 horses during his 40 years with the firm. The horse's successor? Most probably a plastic Mini pedal-car.'[12]
