Pattinson and Stead
Analytical chemists, Metallurgical Laboratory, of Middlesbrough
1876 At the age of twenty-five John Edward Stead went into partnership with the chemist who had given him his first job, John Pattison (sic)[1] to establish the laboratory.
1905 when Pattinson retired, Mr. H. Frankland, F.I.C., joined Mr. Stead as chief assistant, the name of the firm, Pattinson and Stead, being retained.
The metallurgical laboratory attained a worldwide reputation
