PERCIVAL HALL SWINCHATT served his apprenticeship from 1888 to 1892 with Messrs. Vernon and Guest of Smethwick. He was later employed as draughtsman, and in 1895 became works manager for the firm.
In 1899 he was engaged as works manager to Messrs. J. Astbury and Son of Smethwick, but resigned in 1900 to take up an appointment by the India Office as Principal of the Government Industrial (Arts) School at Lucknow. He was also appointed to the Indian Provincial Education Service in 1903. Whilst at Lucknow, he entirely reorganized the school.
In 1920 he went to Cawnpore to become officiating director of industries, and subsequently chief inspector of factories for the United Provinces.
He retired in 1927.
Mr. Swinchatt had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1904.
His death occurred at New Milton, Hants, on 4th December 1932.
He was born at Dudley in 1871.
