. . . entered the Phoenix Foundry and Engineering Works carried on by his father, when the latter determined to wind up his business with a view to emigrating to Canada. He, however, changed his mind and went out to a friend in Tasmania . . . His sons, Robert, Peter, and John, joined him. Six years afterwards the father moved to Sydney and the three sons accompanied him and founded an engineering firm under the title of Russell Brothers. In 1842 Peter Russell severed from his brothers and took over the business of a Mr. James Blanch, who had just died. . . .
