Major-General PETER PIERCE LYONS O’CONNELL, R.E., born in India on the 3rd January, 1827, died at Bromley on the 13th July, 1915.

After being gazetted to the Royal Engineers, he was sent out to India, where he served continuously until his retirement in 1879 with the rank of major-general. Among other posts, he held those of Consulting Engineer for Railways in Madras, Accountant-General, Simla, and Superintending Engineer, Public Works, Madras Presidency.

He was elected an Associate on the 6th February, 1866.
