The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
1854 locomotive by Robert Stephenson and Co
1858. Remains of Thomas Perry and Son Beam engine from Botany Pumping Station, Sydney
Piston from Boulton & Watt engine

Powerhouse Museum, Darling Harbour, Sydney, New South Wales

An excellent collection of artefacts and records relating to science, technology and design, housed in a large building featuring part of an old power station. Many large, interesting and historically important items of machinery are displayed, although this may not be obvious from the website.

Those wishing to take photographs should note that the lighting in the museum is rather 'subtle'

The museum houses the oldest rotative steam engine in the world. Made by Boulton and Watt in 1785 [1]
