Preston and Wyre Joint Railway

Company was formed when the Preston and Wyre Railway and Harbour merged with the Preston and Wyre Dock Company
The Railway was originally built to connect Preston on the LNWR West Coast Main Line with the port of Fleetwood at the mouth of the River Wyre.
1840 The line opened ran from Preston to Fleetwood and ran three trains each day with single fares from 4s to 2s
1861 the Blackpool and Lytham Railway (B&LR) was opened; this was included in the Joint Railway, amalgamated in 1871. A branch from Poulton-le-Fylde to a station at Talbot Road, Blackpool, completed the 45 miles of track.
1923 Became part of London, Midland and Scottish Railway
